TINIAN

Tinian

Tinian possesses a rare natural resource of which divers dream. The waters surrounding this small island are crystal clear and filled with a fascinating array of fish and marine life.

The majority of Tinian's waters are still virgin and preliminary underwater exploration has proven to be very promising. Most dive sites of Tinian are right up against the shoreline, 20-50 yards from the bluffs. The bottom slopes away very quickly to deep water. At least 18 excellent sites have already been discovered and charted.

Point (35-100 Feet)

North Point is on the northwest side of the island. This appears to have been a giant dumping ground for WW II equipment, which was pushed off the cliff. The average diving depth is 35 feet and underwater visibility is crystal clear exceeding 100 feet.
Among the artifacts that litter the bottom are three small Japanese tanks with treads still in place and two or three trucks with their rubber tires intact, bullets and shell casings of all sizes.

Swimming along this debris are many exotic tropicals including Lionfish, and Morrish Idols.

Carolina's Point

This is the location of a vertical drop-off and quite a bit of shark action. There is more current, but also a great deal more fish and marine life.
