Kauai Dive Sites

Oceanarium: 70-130 feet - Advanced

Three large pinnacles with overhangs and crevices rise to within 70 feet of the surface. Travel to the outside of one of the pinnacles for a spectacular wall dive. You'll find stands of black coral, colorful sponges and rare fish like morwongs and boarfish. Dolphins, manta rays and barracudas cruise adjacent blue water.

General Store: 60-90 fee - Intermediate to advanced

You'll find a little bit of everything at the General Store: the remains of
an 1800s wreck, trees of black coral, intriguing rock formations and caverns teeming with marine life. Sea turtles, mantas and sharks are occasional visitors.

Sheraton Caverns: 30-60 feet - Novice to intermediate

You'll be greeted at Sheraton Caverns by two friendly sea turtles: Pepe and LaPue, who beckon you to Kauai's most popular cavern dive. Along the reefs a community of eels accustomed to hand-feeding swim with lobsters, shrimp and a variety of reef fish.

Brenneke's Ledge: 50-90 feet - Advanced

A lava shelf with numerous overhangs is home to black coral, colorful invertebrates, cowries, lobsters and moray eels. Look for long-nosed hawkfish hiding in the coral.

Ni'ihau: 40-130 feet - Advanced

This small privately owned island is a blast from the past. Lying 17 miles off the west coast of Kauai, locals say it's what Hawaii diving was like decades ago. Visibility up-to 200 feet. Spiny and slipper lobster throng the caves and tunnels which are also mobbed by Moorish idols, tangs and butterflyfish. Ni'ihau is diveable only about 80 days a year, most often during the summer month.
